Should we have the option to show our shop sales? When I see low sales on a shop that has been around a year or so, it makes me question if I should purchase from it, "sad but true". Customers being able to see sold items is great because this might help them in their selection, but do we need to show sales if we are not proud of our low sales?. What do you think? Etsy forums

I have to agree Candace! Although I love to see my sales low sales are a deterent! I find myself looking at sales before I buy for the 1st time too... I think low numbers can hurt us :(
ReplyDeleteI agree. I'm quite proud of my sales on my website, but I still don't think it's anyone's business how many items I've sold or not sold. Personally, when I purchase from someone on the internet, I don't really care about how many items they've sold. Everyone has to struggle for that first sale, especially on Etsy where your items get buried so quickly after listing them. Just my own humble opinion.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marilyn and Ann, It's nice to know I'm not the only one who recognizes this issue.
ReplyDeleteI definitely think it should be an option for the seller as to whether or not they'd like to display their sales numbers. When I visit shops on Etsy, I'm not surprised to see the number of shops with low sales. There are over 70,000 shops on Etsy! There's no way we can find them all! When I come across a shop with low sales, I don't question why their sales are low. I think I've stumbled across a hidden gem. I automatically "heart" them so I'll know where to go when I'm ready to buy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Patrice, great insight on the matter.
